Five Gundams were sent to earth from different colonies, and the pilots of the Gundams had no knowledge about the existence of each other. They were given missions by the one who sent them, and they accomplished the missions accordingly. When Heero Yuy, the pilot of the Gundam Wing, met Duo Maxwell, the pilot of the Gundam DeathScythe, they didn't know the identity of each other. Similarly, when Trowa Barton, the pilot of the Gundam HeavyArms encountered Quatre Raberba Winner, the pilot of the Gundam Sandrock, confusion made them fought each other before they reconciliated. The fact that all of them had the same mission target paired them up together. Oz soon realized that there were at least four Gundams. The leader of the Alliance, Marshal Noventa, called a meeting at the New Edwards base to discuss the future and path of the organization. Almost all leaders of the Alliance attended the meeting, and only two people appeared to represent Oz, Colonel Treize Khushrenada and Lieutenant-Colonel Une. However, before the meeting ever took place, words got out that all the leaders of Oz would be at New Edwards base. During the meeting, Marshal Noventa suggested that they resolve the conflicts between earth and the colonies in a peaceful manner. In other word, he was promoting the idea of pacifism. However, before the meeting was over, the base was under attacks by the Gundams. Treize Khushrenada offered Oz' shuttles to evacuate the leaders and officers from the Alliance, but as soon as the shuttle carrying Noventa took air, it was destroyed by the Wing Gundam. It was a trap set by Oz to get rid of the pacific advocates through the hands of the Gundams. The news of the assassination of Marshal Noventa immediately spread all over the world. The Gundams and the colonies, of whom the Gundams were supposedly representing, were regarded as dangerous and enemy to earth. The four Gundam pilots were bitter when a Chinese boy jumped out from an Aries that arrived at the scene one minute too late and told them about Oz' plan and trap. They were used by Oz like four puppets. Meanwhile, revolution movements known as Operation Daybreak were going on at Alliance bases worldwide. Oz was taking over the United Earth Sphere Alliance with organized and well-planned coup d'etat... "...You win, we surrender." The commander of an Alliance military base declared with a lowered head. "Surrender acknowledged." Comfort flashed in the speaker's dark blue eyes. "You're safe." An army of Leos and Aries located themselves around the base. The Aries leading the attack landed right by the gate. A tall young woman jumped down from the suit as the surrendered ex-commander of the base waited and saluted her at the gate. The assault was over before any life was lost, and the Alliance commander, even though defeated, was glad about that. The comm unit in the Aries from which she came out beeped. She apologized to the other officers and climbed back in. "I've found the other four Gundams. I'm transmitting the image over right now." The familiar face of Wufei Chang appeared on the screen. After taking a quick glance at the image, she nodded. "Congratulation, you've found them alright. Where are you?" "New Edwards base. Where's Nataku?" "I sank it in sector P06 of the Pacific Ocean, which isn't far from where you are. The lock has been disengaged; you are free to pilot it now." "Thanks, woman. Nice doing business with you. Keep in touch?" "As long as I still use this frequency." The Chinese boy nodded and took off from New Edwards, leaving the other three pilots bewildered. Heero was too absorbed in his mistake and failure to notice the incident. "Wait a second! That guy was talking to the mysterious girl! Who IS she?" Duo thought aloud after Wufei left the scene. "So that guy is a Gundam pilot, too?" Gundam HeavyArms left at that moment to pursue Treize's ship, and ex-Alliance Major Sally Po informed the remaining pilots that missiles were set to self-detonate at the base in order to destroy them. Heero finally awoke from his deep reproach and misery and accepted the mission to de-activate the missiles.
Oz' process of taking over the Alliance continued for a fair period of time. Fierce attacks were launched at an Alliance military base in Northern Europe by the ace pilot of Oz, Zechs Merquise. He led an army to destroy the base, and his target was the Alliance general. Lucrezia Noin sat on a heavy military motorbike at the edge of the forest just outside the base. She had accompanied Zechs here but he didn't want her involved in this battle. She waited patiently, knowing the significance of this battle to him. The Alliance general looked through the telescopic firearm in his room, observing the battles between the two sides. He knew the army of the base could not win. With cold sweats running down his spin, he looked on. Something caught his attention and he carefully adjusted the aim of the firearm, ready to shoot. Just then, the door of the room opened and a masked man walked in with a gun in his hand. He jerked his head to face the man. "You've never thought about the possibility of this day coming, have you?" The masked man said in a low and threatening tone. "What... How did you get in here?" The stout general was frightened by the atmosphere brought on by the man in front of him. "Perhaps you still remember what you did 13 years ago?" The tone turned dark. The man stared at the masked man in fear, trembling. "13 years ago...! No! You're from the Sanc Kingdom! Please don't kill me!!" "I'm sure you hear that phrase countless times and still put the life out of every single one of them without giving the slightest thought." "Who... Who are you?" The man backed up a few steps. "...Impossible! You... You're the Prince! Miliardo Peacecraft!!" "I've travelled through inferno just so I can see the coming of this day. Now die for the blood you've shed and the lives you've shattered!" Miliardo stepped forward with the gun aimed at the man. The man slipped his fingers into the telescopic firearm, but Miliardo caught that. "What are you trying to do? Shoot me with that thing? You'll be dead before you can turn it around to point at me." "Of course." The man suddenly smiled darkly. "I wasn't thinking of shooting you with it. I was going to shoot someone else when you came in, and I plan to finish the task before I die. Anyone with black hair must die!!" With those last words he fired with a roar. "No!" Miliardo shot him in the head and hurried out the room without even bother to look at the corpse of the man who led the attack on the Sanc Kingdom. The firearm was aimed at the forest outside the base, where he had left Noin!
Noin walked to a clearing near the forest so she could receive better transmission. As soon as she settled down to talk to the person on her portable comm unit, a flash of heat and bright light headed straight for where she was with a terrible blast. "What was that? Are you in a battle? Should I call you at some other time?" The person on the screen was puzzled at the sound of explosion. Noin was silent for a few seconds before she could answer. "No. You couldn't have called at a better time. Thank you, Wufei." "Huh? What are you thanking me for?" The boy was confused now. She smiled sadly. "The explosion you heard was meant for me. Someone was trying to kill me, but I left the area in time because you called." "Assassinating a woman? That's injustice!" She shrugged lightly. "Soldiers have lots of enemies, especially Oz soldiers." "I don't get it. Why are you in Oz? You certainly don't seem like the bad type to me." "Well..." She was going to answer when her name was heard being called repeatedly from the direction of the forest. "Guess your partner is worried about you. You better go, I'll call you later tonight." Noin sighed at the blank screen. "Zechs, over here." She called out. The tall figure of Zechs rushed out from the forest and, upon seeing that she was safe and sound, embraced her tightly. Noin was taken by surprise. She had never seen him this anxious and emotional before. "I thought I've lost you, Noin." He whispered under his breath and almost sounded like a helpless child. Noin's first instinct was to break free from the firm grasp, but she could feel his body slightly trembling so she remained still. She stroke his hair softly, reassuring him of her presence. After a while, Zechs was able to recollect himself. He loosened his arms but would not let go of her. "Thank God you're alright." He was relieved. "Guess God doesn't want me there with Him just yet." Noin smiled. "Someone called me at the nick of time and saved me by doing so." "Who called you? I'd like to thank him." "Well... a friend from the colony. I've thanked him already." She tried to distract his attention. "Can I return to base? I'm tired." Zechs nodded. "I'll take you back. The battle should end within a few minutes."
A quartre moon shone upon two sleepless people, each was talking with someone else. "Treize, do you know any royal family with dark hair like Noin?" "People from a few kingdoms that used to be in Italy have dark hair, as well as the Chinese clan, which was transferred to the L5 Colony a few hundreds years ago. Why do you ask, Zechs?" "The general who led the attacks to my country tried to kill Noin because of her hair colour. I thought maybe one of the royal families he destroyed had similar appearance and the sight of it reminded him of what happened. He was trying to clean up any one he might had missed." "That's a very plausible guess." said Treize. "As I recall it, he did lead the assaults on two such royal families, the Chelle of the Tenare Kingdom and the Eclair of the Luce Kingdom. In fact, he totally annilated the people of both of these kingdoms, including ordinary citizens. That's why you don't find many people with such features on earth, unless they got out to the space colonies in time when the war broke out." Zechs nodded. "I see. Sorry for keeping you up this late." "I am glad to help. Good luck on your next attack." "Thank you." Yes, his next attack would be on the military force of the Alliance that was located at what used to be the Sanc Kingdom.
"What's wrong, Wufei? You looked dead and pale when you called me earlier." "...I'm not worthy of Nataku. I'm too weak." The boy said with a lowered head. "That's not true. What makes you think that?" "I was defeated by someone stronger. What's the meaning of me fighting with Nataku if I am a loser?" "Wufei, you're not a loser. You saved my life today, remember?" "...I guess I still have some little use after all." The boy said sarcastically. "But it's no use just being able to beat the weaklings when those in power and control are that much stronger." "You are strong, Wufei, and you have principles." Noin insisted. "I remember someone telling me that if one lacks principles and a strong will, one is only a killing machine however powerful one is." The Chinese boy muttered. "You sure know how to comfort people." Noin smiled. "I'm just telling the truth. You have a very strong sense of justice, and you fight to keep it. So what if you're defeated? A true warrior should be able to come back no matter how badly hurt or beaten he is. What matters is the final outcome." "Guess not all women are stupid as I thought they are." Wufei smiled back slightly. Feeling much better, he asked. "You don't plan to stay and fight for Oz forever, do you?" "...no. I'm waiting for the right time to leave, and I think it'll come pretty soon." "What are you going to do after you leave Oz?" "I'm not sure yet. Maybe I'll join force with another organization, maybe I'll fight on my own, or maybe I'll fight for some one if I think he's capable of leading the world to peace." "What about your partner? From the desperation in his tone this afternoon, I assume you two are close friends. If he stays in Oz, you'll become enemy of each other. Nothing is sadder than having to fight your partner." Wufei's expression was distant and incomprehensible, as if those words had triggered something buried deep within his memory. Noin saw the look on his face, but knowing Wufei, she decided not to say anything. She replied. "I know that he'll leave Oz soon. I just hope we don't end up joining groups of opposition. I wouldn't want to fight him either." "I haven't asked you why you helped me in the first place." "I am from the colonies too so I can understand why the Gundams were built and sent to earth. I believe that the Gundams are needed to bring about order and justice to the world." "You are such a loyal Oz soldier." Wufei said ironically. Noin smiled. "You know, someone actually promised me that if I could prove myself a worthy pilot, he would build me a mobile suit. I wonder if the position of Commander is good enough to get me that suit." Wufei stared at her in disbelief. "Woman, you're wacky. You didn't join Oz for that simple and silly reason, did you?" "Of course not." She chuckled. "I joined Oz so I can make a difference in the making of the history, and I fight for my love of peace and outer space." "The soul of outer space eh?" Wufei smiled. "You could be a Gundam pilot if you happen to be selected. You have the heart and will to be one." Noin was visibly happy to hear that. "Then I could fight with you guys." She paused a few seconds before continuing. "My superior is going to unify all channel frequency in the division, so you won't be able to contact me from the day after, Wufei." "Is that so? That's fine with me." Wufei nodded. "You can call me using Nataku's frequency if I am still on Earth though." "I will call you when I can. If we ever meet on the battlefield, I'll call Nataku so you know it's me." She said cheerfully. "Well, good bye, Wufei." "I'd really like to fight you some day, under equal MS conditions of course. It would be good to acknowledge someone worthy of fighting with Nataku." Wufei said. "Good bye, Noin." They said their farewell and turned off the comm unit, each wondering when they would see the other again.
