Of Gangs and Royals

ON THE HOMEFRONT - chapter 6
Cat chatted ideally with Zero, me and Bane
he questioned Bane on things she liked and talked to Zero about computers, over
all he was getting along well with him.
"So Banie what did Zero teach you
today?" I asked not forgetting the deal me and him had made early this
morning.
Bane looks up at me and grins, "Zero taught me how to throw a
guy his size!" she squealed, Cat looks shocked at the fact that he taught a
child a move that could hurt someone. "Yea? Well that's a good thing, could come
in really handy" I comment and she
nods.
*THUMP* *THUMP* *BANG* The door the warehouse bangs open and
there standing in the open door way is a teenage boy of Chinese origin, in his
arms is a little girl covered in blood, "POE!!!" the boy yelled, and in response
to the yell a teenage girl comes running from a small room and stops in her
tracks when she sees the boy and the little girl. "Is she?" the girl asks and
the boy just nod "bring her here" the boy walks over and follows the girl into
the small room that is a makeshift doctors office, he lays the small girl down
on the table.
The older girl sighs and looks at the boy "you better go
get cleaned up wufei."she says sadly, 'Wufei' just nods and walks
away.
'Poe' stands there looking at the small child, "what am I gonna
tell Luca .hm."she whispers to the little
girl.
Zero
and I have been telling Cat more about what the 'gundams' do.
"So
basically the gundams are the good guys. I mean you stop gangs from fighting in
the street and you protect the children from abusive parents. to me that sound
like what the guards do." he commented on what we had told him.
"No Cat
the guards don't try to do anything. pay a guard enough and they'll forget that
you murdered someone right in front of them." Zero said matter-of-factly and Cat
looked almost sick.
"You mean to tell me that all the guards are
corrupt?" Cat asked.
"No not all the guards Cat just the ones that have
normal street posts, they don't give a damn about anyone, just themselves, I
don't think they even care what happens to the royal family" Zero
replied.
"Yea kitty," Banie interrupted, "Trowa says the guards he works
with are actually decent."
As we reach the warehouse I stop and take a
look at it, I stop walking, "Why is the door open.?" I ask. Zero looks at the
door, then to me, then to Cat, he tells everyone to stay behind him as we walk
in, I see a shirt less Wufei sitting on a box his shoulder length hair out of
its normal ponytail and framing his face, he looks up at us as we walk in and
Zero goes and closes the door, then nearly yells "What are you doing leaving the
door open!" Wufei just sits there looking at him. I put down my bags of food and
walk closer to him, "Wufei?" I ask, he blinks and looks like he's gonna cry, but
instead just stands up and walks away, up the stairs and into his room shutting
the door.
Poe walks out of the med. room and watches Wufei shut his door.
She turns to me and says "Luca. he found Jordan.." I look at her not wanting to
believe Jordan is dead, she looks at me hard and just whispers it trying to make
it so it won't hurt me, but it does, but I don't scream, I don't cry, I just
walk into the med room and look at little Jordan. a girl with a boy's name.
because her father wanted a son., I lean down and kiss Jordan on her forehead
and walk out of the room and I go to my own.
Zero tells Cat to grab my
bags and to follow him to the kitchen, and he does.
I look around my room
pictures that the kids have drawn are all over the walls, just like they are in
very room, but in here there's only one picture from every child we ever helped,
but in a box under a table in the corner are is every thing that every child had
ever drawn, wrote, scribbled, or anything they ever gave me, I go to that box
and open it and the thing on the every top is Jordan's old skate board, I
remember that Dee gave it to her.
~~Flash back~~
"Here" a younger
looking Dee handed a box to a little girl, probably only 7 years
old.
"What is it Dee," the little girl asked. Dee smiled, "open it
Jordie."
Jordie opened the box and pulled a skate board that has hardly
been used, "WOW!" she yelled, and jumped up to give Dee a hug, "thanks Dee!" she
squealed.
Dee laughed "No worries squirt! . but you really should be
thanking Luca it used to be hers" she says, Jordie's eyes go
big.
"Really? Did you tell her you were giving it to me?" she
asks
"I sure did Jord, and she said that you could have it, as long as
you promised to love it" Dee said.
"Oh I will! Dee really I will" Jordan
exclaimed, Dee laughed and hugged her again.
"Well good, now Jordie why
don't you go and thank Luca hm?" she asked, Jordan just nodded her head and held
the skate board in front of her as she walked up to Luca who was sitting in a
window not far away and listened to the entire exchange.
"Um. Luca?" she
asks tentively and I look at her so she knows she has my attention, "t. thank
you for the skateboard." she stuttered out, I look at the skate board and then
back to the face and I look in her green blue eyes and ask, "Do you even know
how to use it?" she looks suddenly scared, but shakes her head 'no' I just nod
my head and then say "well I had better teach you then." And she smiles so big I
thought her face would break, then jumps and hugs me, and I laugh.

of flashback~~
I blink back tears that threaten to spill, and pick up the
board, it looks all banged up now . all worn in, all the fun times now just
memories, she stands up and tosses the board on her makeshift bed, then grabs
the clothes that are on top of the table and changes into them, a black tank top
with 'Epyon' painted on it, black baggy pants with a chain wrapped around the
waist, grabs her black trench coat and walks out of the room, skate board in
hand.
I walk into the kitchen and I see everyone there, Poe is standing
at the counter trying to make coffee but is shaking so bad she can't quite do
it, Cat walks over an helps her with it, his eyes a little red and puffy, 'did
he cry?' I think, Zero sitting at the table with Wufei, who came out of his
room, Dee also sitting at the table her head down and her shoulders shaking,
Trowa sitting next to her rubbing her back, trying to calm her down, and Duo
kneeling in the middle of the kitchen, cross in hand, eyes closed.
I walk
further into the kitchen, letting my presences be known, everyone looks up at me
as I walk in I put my trench down on the counter and I look at Trowa and say,
"lets put on my game face.." He gets up and grabs a box of face paint and I sit
up on the counter and he stands in front of me.
"Colors?" he
asks.
"Red and black," I reply, red was her favorite color, he was about
to ask me what mask I want but before he can say it I tell him "mask of irony,"
he nods and takes the red and starts to do my entire face then moves to the
black when he's finished with my face he moves on to my hair, he slicks back my
short purple black hair and then he hands me a mirror, what I see isn't me, I
see a red face with black eyes with lines going vertical that started
mid-forehead and continued down to mid-cheek and then there's the mouth, a black
mouth with an over exaggerated smile, and Trowa's little touch, black tears
coming out the sides of each eye.
I smile, only it looks evil, Trowa nods
and backs up allowing me to jump off the counter, I turn to Cat and I say, "You
asked before how you can help," I pause as I look at him, he nods a little and I
continue "I need you to find Senator Roland."
He looks confused, "Ok but
. why him," he asks.
"Because that little girl in there is his daughter."
I state simply, he looks shocked, his mouth drops open and his eyes go wide,
"will you help?" I ask.
His facial expression goes from shock to pissed
off in a matter of seconds and he grabs his vest off the table and walks out the
kitchen door.
"I'll take that as a yes." I say quietly and follow him
out.
